Strap hinges consists of two unequal hinge leaves where one leaf is longer and narrower than the other. The typical three knuckle strap hinge is comprised of a larger center knuckle and equal end knuckles. The larger leaf will offer more of a mounting surface. Strap hinges are usually manufactured in heavier gauges with standard hole placements.
